Manly Wharf entered a new era with the opening of Felons Manly in October 2024.

And it’s not only because Sydneysiders can now sink one of those incredible Japanese rice lagers at the water’s edge as soon as they disembark one of the world’s most picturesque ferry rides.

The former Manly Wharf Bar has been lovingly transformed by one of Australia’s most innovative craft breweries, shaping the waterfront destination with exceptional craft beer and a spirited approach to hospitality with a strong focus on community.

“We believe Felons will elevate what locals have always loved about this destination, bringing fresh energy with award-winning beers, a creative produce-driven menu and a stellar live music lineup,” said co-founder and director of Artemus Group, Adam Flaskas, when the venue opened in October.

Just a few months later and it’s looking like his vision was right on the money. Felons Manly has quickly established itself as one of the most potent symbols of Manly’s laid-back surf village charm. The growing legacy is anchored by Felons’ prolific output, showcasing fresh and local ingredients in favourites like the Crisp Lager, Galaxy Haze and Australian Pale Ale.

The dynamic roll-out of barrel-aged and seasonal brews keeps regulars on their toes, and the drinks list stretches beyond hops with a premium selection of cocktails, Champagne, wines, spirits and low-to-no alcohol alternatives.

Food is taken seriously as well. So seriously, in fact, that Felons has brought on former culinary director of Rockpool Bar & Grill, Corey Costelloe, to steer the menu the right way. Produce-forward highlights include a Clarence River baby octopus with lemon, chilli and oregano, a whole butterflied whiting from Coffs Harbour, and a 600g CopperTree Farms 45-day, dry-aged, bone-in ribeye.

Plenty of thought has been put into how to make Felons Manly the brewpub of the future. Weekly specials take a more upscale approach than your standard pub roster, ranging from lobster & Champagne nights and barrel aged beer evenings to burger nights and nights purposed to showcase premium steaks. We’ve included the current roster of weekly specials below so you can time your visit perfectly.

Performing art also gets some love with a strong live music program touching on everything from live jazz, soul and funk to a roster of DJs spinning Afrobeats, disco and 80s classics.

The strong lifestyle offering is rounded out by free kids’ face painting and activities every Sunday, and an all-inclusive run club. Yes, a brewery with its own free community run club, hitting the pavement every Wednesday evening with Felons’ physical activity advocate, Pat Curtin, shouting all participants a beer (or kombucha) after all that sweat has rolled off.

Felons Manly’s weekly specials include.

  • Monday: Royale Burger and a schooner of beer or house drink for $30. House drinks includes Felons Japanese rice lager.
  • Tuesday: Trivia and pizza night. Any pizza plus your choice of Japanese rice lager, schooner of Felons house beer or house drink for $30.
  • Wednesday: 90s retro mixed grill including 120g rump steak, lamb cutlet, thick cut bacon, port sausage and relish for $35.
  • Thursday: A luxe for less lobster frites. A 1/2 lobster is served with curry butter and fries with a glass of Louis Roederer Champagne and barrel-aged beer for $55.
