Sydney has its very own Christmas burger this week, with the latest special from the inventive BL Burgers geared towards the festive season.

The Netflix show Ugly Delicious springs to mind when we think about the constant weekly specials over at the small-but-mighty chain of burger shops. BL Burgers has been at this game for awhile now, constantly theming their creations off everything from pop culture to trending culture events, so it’s not like a monstrously beautiful creation like this was unexpected.

Plus, the team tend to put out a themed Christmas burger special each year in the week right before December 25. But we didn’t expect this year’s burger to be this tempting.

And (most of the time), they’ve been massive hits. But we’re thinking this one could be one of the team’s greatest creations yet, announced on its Instagram earlier this week with the limited edition burger only lasting up until this Sunday, December 22.

In 2024 Sydney has been through a tremendous amount of change from the new Sydney metro to a swift uptick in nightlife venues. We’ve also seen an explosion in upscale restaurants as Sydney’s hospitality scene continues to refine itself with high-profile openings like Olympus, Joji and The International

But there’s also been plenty of action in the realm of casual eats. Blood’s Bakery created a ramen egg pie and now has a ridiculous wait list stretching for months on end. We’ve also seen the long-awaited Sydney expansion from Melbourne-born croissanterie Lune, after a five-year wait.

So a burger that’s looking so ugly and yet so delicious is par for the course for Sydney’s foodie culture.

The aptly-named Sleigher burger ($18) is stacked with the following:

  • BL Beef Pattie
  • Swiss Cheese
  • Turkey Bacon
  • Crumbed Camembert
  • Caramelised Onion & Sage Aioli
  • Plum & Onion Jam

You’ve only got until Sunday to pick this one up, and you can grab it from either BL Burgers Darlinghurst, BL Burgers Parramatta or Bar Luca in Circular Quay.
