The World Cup may have wrapped up, but soccer fans still have a lot to look forward to. Later this month, two of the world’s most famous clubs will headline the Sydney Super Cup.
World Cup fever swept across Sydney this July, with fans packing Tumbalong Park and pubs across the city to cheer on the Socceroos and teams from around the globe. While soccer may not rival the NRL or AFL in Sydney, the huge international tournament has won over plenty of new fans, and now that it’s over, the withdrawals are real.
Luckily for Sydney’s soccer supporters, a huge tournament will return to the city at the end of July. Running from July 28 to August 12, the Sydney Super Cup will host Premier League teams Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur as they take on the Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Sydney FC, before playing against each other.
This won’t be the first Sydney Super Cup, with the pre-season tournament previously held in 2022, hosting Celtic and Everton. But the 2026 edition has generated far more excitement, thanks to the arrival of two of the world’s biggest football clubs.
The matches will be played at Allianz Stadium and Accor Stadium, two of Sydney’s premier sporting venues, adding to the blockbuster feel of the tournament.
The games
The dates of the games are as follows:
- Tuesday, July 28: Western Sydney Wanderers vs Chelsea at Accor Stadium
- Wednesday, July 29: Sydney FC vs Tottenham Hotspur at Allianz Stadium
- Saturday, August 1: Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur (London derby) at Accor Stadium
- Wednesday, August 12: Chelsea Women vs A-League All Stars Women at Allianz Stadium
All games will start at 7:45pm.

Tickets for the London Derby clash start at $139, while tickets to the other games start at $59.
There’s also the chance to see the Premier League teams up close while they’re in Sydney, with $15 tickets available to “Open Training” sessions. This is the perfect day out for any budding soccer players or hardcore fans.
Soccer season returns in October
If four games isn’t enough for you, don’t worry, it’s not long until the Sydney soccer season kicks off again.
The Sydney Super Cup will act as a pre-season warm-up for the teams, with the A-League (Australia and New Zealand’s premier professional soccer league) starting in mid-October and running to early June.
Sydney is home to three men’s A-League clubs: Sydney FC, which plays at Allianz Stadium; Western Sydney Wanderers, based at CommBank Stadium; and Macarthur FC, which calls Campbelltown Sports Stadium home.
The city is also represented in the women’s A-League by Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Tickets for women’s A-League matches typically cost between $20 and $30, while men’s A-League tickets generally range from $30 to $40.
