The Sydney Travel Guide is here to help you split the G this Paddy’s Day, with our list of the best places to get a perfectly-poured Guinness in Sydney.
Everyone knows there is a big difference between a good Guinness and a bad Guinness. This iconic Irish stout is at its best when it’s cold and smooth, with a perfectly creamy head. Here are our picks for the best places in Sydney to get a professionally-poured pint of the good stuff.
The Mercantile Hotel, The Rocks
The longest-running Irish pub in Australia has obviously got great Guinness. They have nearly 5000 litres of Guinness ready for excited customers to drink over St Patrick’s Day weekend. While their main venue is closed for renovations, they’ve opened a spot just down the street (aptly named “4 Doors Down”) so loyal customers can keep drinking their favourite pub.
The Mercantile will be taking over George Street this weekend, March 15-17, promising live music and the big Paddy’s day celebrations.

The Village Inn, Paddington
Paddington’s oldest and most beloved pub is known for their perfectly poured Guinness. Enjoy your cold, creamy Guinness on their balcony, overlooking the charming Paddington intersection.
It’s not all about the setting here: The Village Inn is celebrating Paddy’s Day in the best way possible, serving $20 spice bags and $20 steak and Guinness pies to pair with your pint from 12pm onwards on Monday 17.

Jimmy’s Bar and Restaurant, Randwick
Nestled in the heart of Randwick, which is known for its large Irish contingent, Jimmy’s Bar is a great option for a well-poured Guinness. Reviews of Jimmy’s say that “it tastes close enough to the real thing”—high praise indeed from an Irishman!
This Paddy’s Day they’ll be showing live music everyday, with plenty of Irish acts set to entertain customers. Enjoy authentic Irish food alongside your creamy Guinness.

Erskineville’s best pub is known for its relaxed vibe and phenomenal Guinness. It combines a smooth texture with a rich taste, exporting you back to Dublin (but you’re in Erskineville).
The Erko are treating customers to $10 pints of Guinness all weekend in honour of the Irish patron saint. Their pints of Guinness are normally $17, so make sure you go make the most of this incredible deal!

Sydney Park Hotel
Claiming to have “the best Guinness in the Inner West”, Sydney Park Hotel are gearing up for a big Paddy’s Day weekend. To be fair, this friendly pub does have an old school Guinness tap, which is a rarity in Australia.

The Hero of Waterloo, The Rocks
This heritage pub scored an impressive 9/10 on the Guinness Rating from the Guinness of Sydney judges. Creamy and balanced, the Hero of Waterloo like to throw around that they’re strong contenders for the best Guinness in Sydney. Come for the Guinness and stay for its beautiful interior and cosy atmosphere.
They’ll be offering “perfect pints of Guinness, live music and good craic” this St Paddy’s weekend, encouraging customers to wear their greatest green garments. Lord Dudley, Woollahra
The Lord Dudley is another of Sydney’s most beloved, family-run pubs. Like The Henson, they haven’t advertised any official Paddy’s Day events, but we included them on our list because they’re known for pouring consistently great pints of Guinness.
One of Lord Dudley’s spaces is even called the Guinness Room, and you’ll see some funky Guinness posters that complement the pub’s nostalgic interior.
