Diana Ross to headline Sydney concert on the eve of 2027 Mardi Gras Parade

  • Diana Ross will headline a concert in Centennial Park on March 5.
  • The performance will be part of the 2027 Sydney Summertime series.
  • It will be Ross’s only Australian performance and first Sydney show in more than two decades.

Legendary performer Diana Ross will headline a huge outdoor concert on the evening of next year’s Mardi Gras Parade, bringing Diana Ross Freedom in Motion to Sydney’s favourite green space.

The performance will be part of Centennial Park’s new multi-week concert series, Sydney Summertime, which has also announced The Strokes and Kings of Leon as headliners.

Taking place on Friday, March 5, the exclusive, one-night-only concert will be Ross’s first Sydney performance in more than two decades and her only Australian show.

One of the most successful female recording artists in music history, 82-year-old Ross has had one of the most impressive careers in the music industry, spanning more than six decades.

As the lead singer of The Supremes, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, she helped deliver iconic hits including “Baby Love”, “Stop! In the Name of Love” and “Where Did Our Love Go?” before launching her solo career in 1970.

Ross went on to release a string of global hits, from “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “I’m Coming Out” to “Upside Down” and “Love Hangover”.

Her 1980 hit “I’m Coming Out” has since become an LGBTQIA+ anthem, making her performance on the eve of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade all the more special. A longtime supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, Ross is set to bring a seriously iconic setlist to one of Sydney’s biggest cultural weekends.

The star will be joined by special guests Groove Armada, who will also perform an exclusive Australian performance. They’ll be injecting more even more funk into the evening, playing a variety of dancefloor anthems, including “Superstylin”, “I See You Baby” and “My Friend”.

Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper said:

“Diana Ross is one of the most iconic performers in music history, with a career spanning decades and a catalogue of hits loved by generations of fans. To have an international superstar of her calibre headline at Sydney Summertime for an Australian-exclusive performance is a major coup for NSW.”
