Easter Long Weekend trading hours: What’s open on Good Friday and Easter Sunday?

The longest weekend of the year is right around the corner, with the Easter Long Weekend in 2025 falling on Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21. With the cluster of public holidays, you might be wondering what’s open when it comes to all the essentials: the supermarkets, the bottle shops, the petrol stations and all other major stores and services around Sydney.

The breakdown for the four-day weekend is as follows:

• Good Friday: Friday, April 18
• Easter Saturday: Saturday, April 19
• Easter Sunday: Sunday, April 20
• Easter Monday: Monday, April 21

Woolworths

Make sure you stock up on those Woolworths Easter eggs before Good Friday hops around. All Woolworths stores across the state will be closed on Good Friday. Standard trading hours will resume on Saturday but you’ll find that only some stores stay open on Sunday. Monday will operate to reduced trading hours so you’ll need to check with your local supermarket on individual trading hours.

• Easter Sunday, April 20—only some stores open
• Easter Monday, April 21—reduced trading hours

Coles

All Coles stores will be closed on Good Friday, and operate on reduced trading hours for Easter Monday. That said, Saturday and Sunday will have normal trading hours, although some small local stores may reduce their trading hours. It’s best to check in with the closest Coles so you’re aware of when they’re open.

• Easter Monday, April 21—reduced trading hours

Aldi

Your local Aldi store isn’t any different from the other supermarkets on Good Friday. You’ll find that all stores are closed at the start of the Easter long weekend but they should all be open as per usual on Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and even Easter Monday.

• Easter Saturday, April 19—standard trading hours
• Easter Sunday, April 20—standard trading hours
• Easter Monday, April 21—standard trading hours

Bunnings

If you wake up on Good Friday and feel like painting your house, you might be met with a slight tinge of disappointment. All Bunnings stores across the state are closed on Good Friday, but all of them will resume normal trading hours for Easter Saturday. Bunnings falls in line with the NSW Easter Sunday Trading restrictions so you’ll find that only some stores open on the Sunday. All Bunnings stores are open on Easter Monday.

• Easter Sunday, April 20—only some stores open
• Easter Monday, April 21—standard trading hours

Target

All Target stores are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. However, your local Target should be open with regular hours on both Easter Saturday and Easter Monday.

• Easter Saturday, April 19—9:30am – 7pm
• Easter Sunday, April 20—closed
• Easter Monday, April 21—10am – 7pm

Kmart

You won’t be able to shop at Kmart on Good Friday since all stores will be completely shuttered. Everything is open once again on Easter Saturday but only a few regional stores stay open for Easter Sunday. Most Kmart stores should be open on Easter Monday but it’s best to check with your local just in case.

Big W

All Big W stores will be closed on Good Friday and most will also shut on Easter Sunday. You’ll have no problems on Saturday or Monday, however.

• Easter Sunday, April 20—closed
• Easter Monday, April 21—standard trading hours

Westfield

Your local Westfield shopping centre is closed on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Things open back up on Saturday (9:30am – 7pm) and Monday (10am – 7pm).

• Easter Saturday, April 19—9:30am – 7pm
• Easter Sunday, April 20—closed
• Easter Monday, April 21—10am – 7pm

Liquorland, Vintage Cellars & First Choice Liquor

All of these ubiqutous bottle shops are closed on Good Friday and you’ll be very limited if you want to buy any last minute drinks. Although all stores should spring back open on Saturday and remained open throughout the weekend, even on Easter Sunday.

Dan Murphys & BWS

This is the big one. Where to find booze on Good Friday is always trending on Google each time the Easter Long Weekend rolls around. You’re out of luck on Friday. All Dan Murphys and BSW stores will be closed for Good Friday but select stores will be open for the rest of the Easter Long Weekend. Some stores, however, may be operating to reduced trading hours.
