  • Metallica is set to rock Accor Stadium on November 15.
  • Sydney is the next stop on their M72 World Tour.
  • They’ll be joined by supporting acts Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies.

Metallica is set to rock Accor Stadium this Saturday, delivering the biggest metal show Sydney has seen all year.

Just a week after Oasis performed a stunning comeback show at the Accor Stadium, the legendary heavy metal titans are set to follow suit. 70,000 fans will flock to Accor Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park to see James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo at Metallica’s first Australian tour in over a decade.

The metal titans are known for their iconic songs Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, Master of Puppets, One, Seek & Destroy. Not only will they be performing these huge hits, they’ll also be bringing the Metallica “Snake Pit” to Sydney. This exclusive standing area is located directly in front of the stage, offering an up-close and personal view of the band’s performance.

Sydney will be the last stop in the band’s Australian portion of the tour, following performances in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane. After their Sydney show, they’ll head to Eden Park in Auckland.

3. Travel advice

Transport for NSW is urging fans to leave their cars at home and opt to take public transport to and from the event, to avoid getting caught in traffic delays.

Hundreds of additional trains and buses will run to Olympic Park, and travel on all modes of public transport is included in the Metallica concert ticket (simply show transport staff your ticket when boarding services). Express and limited-stop trains will run frequently to Olympic Park (which is a 10-minute walk from the stadium), with frequent return services after the show.

If you’re going to Olympic Park station from Central, express services will leave Central Station every 7-8 minutes from 3.30pm until 10pm – stopping at Redfern, Strathfield then Olympic Park.

Sydney Olympic Park has nine major event buses, which will run frequently from 3:35pm until 7:14pm, depending on the route.

The buses are as follows:

  • 1A– Narrabeen via Chatswood, Frenchs Forest & Dee Why
  • 1B– Warriewood via Macquarie Park, West Pymble and St Ives
  • 2– Glebe Point via Ryde, Hunters Hill and Drummoyne
  • 4– Maroubra Beach via Campsie, Rockdale, Mascot and Eastgardens
  • 5A– Hills Showground via Northmead, Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill
  • 5B– Tallawong via Northmead, Northwest and North-West Twy
  • 6– Sutherland via Bankstown, Bangor and Menai
  • 7– Cronulla via Roselands, Hurstville and Miranda
  • 8– Dural via Carlingford and Cherrybrook

If you’re set on parking, make sure to pre-book here to guarantee a car space if you need to drive. An event flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.

If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of the staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. After the show, traffic will be very heavy, so expect to allow up to an hour of additional travel time exiting car parks.

You can also consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing your trip on one of the many extra trains running to Olympic Park, at no extra cost.

If you’re getting dropped off or catching a rideshare, taxi ranks are located on Herb Elliott Avenue.
