  • The new Escape Bathhouse is coming to Roseville from the same team behind Mudgee’s award-winning Sierra Escape.
  • The wellness facility takes over the heritage-listed Seymour Building with an immersive design.
  • Escape Bathhouse is between Chatswood and Roseville so very accessible via the Sydney Metro.

Opening this weekend, Escape Bathhouse takes over the heritage-listed Seymour Building in Chatswood, transforming the old Spanish Mission landmark into a peaceful pocket of warmth, water and light from the same team behind Mudgee’s famous Sierra Escape.

Sydney’s wellness scene continues to deepen with grand contemporary bathhouses popping up by the month. The latest arrival might be its most serene yet.

Owners Cam and Tasch D’Arcy are flipping the script on their award-winning Mudgee bathhouse, which is all about disconnecting from city life. Escape is about escaping from the city without actually leaving it, disconnecting from the urban world with an immersive design.

Plus, it’s only a short metro ride from the city on the Pacific Highway in Roseville, between Roseville Station and Chatswood Chase.

What to expect from Escape Bathhouse

The heritage terracotta frame is now filled by a 320-square-metre space that unfolds across two levels. The historic features remain, softened by pale stone, timber and natural light. Guests can move through a two-hour hydrothermal circuit, alternating between a 37°C mineral pool and ice baths cooled to around 10–12°C. There’s also an infrared sauna and steam room for deeper recovery and detoxification.

Between sessions, visitors can settle into the Placebo Bar, where herbal tonics and mineral elixirs replace post-spa cocktails. Those with more time can opt for the Nunyara Ritual, a two-hour treatment inspired by the Indigenous word meaning “to be made well again.” It combines breathwork, exfoliation, a hot stone massage and a rose quartz facial.

Sydney’s approach to wellness has shifted in recent years, with big openings like Alexandria’s Soak Bathhouse stretching the Harbour City’s more restorative amenities. What began with fitness recovery has evolved into something more holistic, shaped by bathhouses, meditation studios and restorative design. Escape Bathhouse feels like a continuation of that story, offering ritual over routine and calm over luxury.
