If there’s one place to roll out a picnic blanket, grab a bucket of popcorn and settle in for blockbuster favourites like Madagascar and Jurassic Park, it’s Taronga Zoo.
This April will see the return of Sydney’s most scenic cinema, which will see four beloved movies light up Taronga’s iconic concert lawns.
Things kick off on Thursday, April 9, with Madagascar, a pitch-perfect pick for a zoo-side screening. On Friday, April 10, A Minecraft Movie, starring Jack Black, takes over the big screen, followed by Jurassic Park on Saturday, April 11. The series wraps up with a special screening of Bridesmaids, bringing the laughs for a slightly more grown-up crowd.
If this sounds like your idyllic family evening out, you’re in luck.
We’ve teamed up with the world’s most beautiful zoo this school holiday to give away five Family Passes, each valued at $112 (covering two adults and two children), to experience Harbour View Cinema.
Even better, each pass includes general admission to the zoo from 2pm, so you can explore the grounds before settling in for a movie with one of Sydney’s most spectacular backdrops.
The cinema precinct opens at 6pm, giving guests plenty of time to explore Taronga Zoo’s incredible residents before the movie begins. Say hello to new arrival Hari, the 1.8-tonne greater one-horned rhino, and wander past lions, tigers, birds of prey, pygmy hippos and more before settling in for a night at the movies.
Taronga Zoo encourage you to bring your own picnic blankets and snacks, although you’ll be able to buy hot food, popcorn, sweet treats and beverages at the kiosk by the cinema. Taronga Zoo is also fully licensed, so if you want a cheeky G&T or a glass of wine to enjoy while you watch the movie, they’ve got you covered.
