Simply titled Rick Stein at Coogee Beach, this addition to the Eastern Suburbs dining scene is set to hit the mark, launching in December. The new beachfront space will be headed by legendary chef, cookbook author, TV personality and Aussie icon Rick Stein, with his wife Sarah by his side.
Famous for his existing Bannister’s dining landmark, Stein is putting his name to the new space, with capacity for 224 seated diners, all within the new-to-be relaunched Intercontinental Sydney Coogee Beach. Stein says, “Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant. It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
Doors are due to open in December, just as Sydney starts to sparkle in the Christmas season. Located at the south end of Coogee Beach, overlooking the Coogee Surf Club and famous Wedding Cake Island, Rick Stein at Coogee Beach promises “ocean-fresh produce, coastal charm, and unforgettable dining.”
Stein is popular for his 25 cookery books, a memoir and for producing over 30 television programmes, including 12 cookery series. In 2018 Stein was awarded a CBE for Services to the Economy. He has cooked for The Queen and Prince Philip, Tony Blair, Margaret Thatcher, French President Jacques Chirac and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rick divides his time between his businesses and homes with his wife, Sarah between Padstow, London and Australia. They run two restaurants in Australia, Rick Stein Bannisters in Mollymook, NSW which they launched in 2009 followed by Bannisters, Port Stephens, NSW in 2018.
Bookings are now open for Coogee Beach for Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.
