  • Paratha Burgers in Sydney can now be found at Cafe Levant in Greenacre.
  • The viral food trend was created in Dubai and has racked up millions of views on social media.
  • It’s an Indian and Middle Eastern fusion, with a crispy, buttery bread filled with traditional burger fare.

When it comes to its culinary credentials, Dubai is a city of fusion. An embrace of many ethnicities has given the futuristic Middle Eastern city several cross-cultural viral food trends over the years, the most obvious being the hype around Dubai Chocolate and its creamy, crisp and rich textural balance. The latest, however, skews savoury with the viral Dubai paratha burger getting big on TikTok. And we mean big.

KLAY Bakehouse, which is located in Dubai Mall, struck gold when the kitchen created the perfect freshly-made paratha buns. Borrowing flavours from Indian culture and meshing them with Middle Eastern takes resulted in burgers that were almost impossibly flakey and buttery, stuffed with various flavours like juicy double smash patties and fresh veggies.

Social media blew up as a result. Millions upon millions of views have people pausing their doomscrolling sessions to um and awe over one of the most unique styles of burger that we’ve seen since chefs around the world starting perfect sushi burgers.

What’s on the menu at Cafe Levant?

Greenacre’s Cafe Levant have had the good sense to recreate the viral food sensation for Sydneysiders, officially bringing the Paratha Burger to Sydney. There’s nothing too complicated here: just a golden, layered paratha pastry that’s all crispy, buttery and perfectly indulgent, wrapped around various fillings across four types:

  • The Smash Burger ($25): A double smash beef patty with cheddar cheese and caramelised onions
  • The Sloppy Joe ($22): Spiced sujuk with fresh tomatoes, house pickles, cheese and dynamite sauces
  • Shawarma Chicken ($22): Shawarma chicken with garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, house pickles and garlic toum sauce
  • Levant Vegetarian ($16): Labneh with za’atar, tomato, cucumber and mint
