Soak Bathhouse is opening two ambitious wellness spaces in Sydney

Queensland-based Soak Bathhouse are set to open two ambitious new spa concepts for Sydney in response to ongoing demand for more wellness experiences in the harbour city.

The rapidly growing bathhouse brand continues its nationwide expansion with Soak Bathhouse Bondi and Soak Bathhouse Alexandria, the latter only announced this week with plans for a sprawling 700-square-metre maze of magnesium pools, hot spas, cold plunge pools, a steam room and a dry cedar wood sauna.

The brand’s Sydney debut in Bondi Junction was announced in 2023 but not much has been heard about the project since then. The reason for the delay, it seems, is that there were two venues being readied for Sydney, following plenty of success up in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

Alternating between hot and cold pools has become a popular wellness activity around the world, with beautiful urban bathhouses like AIRE Ancient Baths finding massive success in cities like New York, Chicago and Copenhagen.

Soak Alexandria (and we assume Bondi Junction, as well) will not only offer these series of pools and saunas, but also private therapies including infrared sauna sessions, LED therapy treatments and traditional massages.

While an opening date is still TBC for the Bondi Junction space, we know that Soak Alexandria will open in April 2025 as part of Bourke and Bowden, the new $230M mixed-use building spearheaded by architectural firm Wardle. The 8000-square-metre development sits in the heart of Alexandria and will feature flexible workspaces, a central courtyard, a rooftop entertaining area and a major dining precinct.

“We create a tranquil and beautiful natural environment in all of our urban locations,” explained co-founder Alexis Dean, who runs Soak with her husband Niki.

“From the colour scheme to the finishes, we’ve brought in all of the natural materials so guests get that connection to nature which helps with that real sense of relaxation.”

Soak traditionally has four bathing packages starting from $49 on weekdays and $59 on weekends, giving guests access to all facilities with complimentary robe hire and refreshments.
