It’s tiiiiime. Everyone’s favourite Christmas songstress has announced her first Australian tour in more than a decade.
The Queen of Christmas is coming Down Under for the first time in more than 12 years. As if that wasn’t big enough news, she’ll headline Fridays festival alongside Mr Worldwide himself, Pitbull. So if you spot an onslaught of people dressed in suits and bald caps roaming around Sydney in October, that’s where they’re heading.
Fridays festival is a series of R&B concerts that has taken place almost annually since 2006, touring Australian cities. Previous line-ups have included Usher, Janet Jackson, 50 Cent, the Black Eyed Peas, TLC and Kelly Rowland.
This is huge news for Aussie โLambsโ (the name for Careyโs fans), who havenโt been blessed with a show since her last Australian tour in 2013. She’s currently touring Asia, so we’re holding out hope that Carey will add some solo sideshows alongside her festival headline slot.
The songstress is celebrating 20 years of her hit albumย The Emancipation of Mimi, which marked a comeback for Mariah, who hadnโt released an album sinceย 1997’s Butterfly. It launched instant hits like We Belong Together, which earned Carey three Grammys that year.
Here, everything you need to know about Fridayz festival and Mariah Careyโs grand return to Oz.
