Here You Come Again is co-created and written by two-time Emmy Award-winning comedy writer, songwriter, and actor Bruce Vilanch, director and choreographer Gabriel Barre and Tricia Paoluccio, who takes the lead role as Dolly. It opened in Connecticut in July 2023 and has since played sold-out seasons across the US and UK.
The show has now been adapted for Australia by Fiona Harris and Mike McLeish, and will land Down Under in July! It will play in Melbourne first, before transferring to Sydney in September.
What you can expect from the Dolly Parton musical
Rhinestones at the ready. The Queen of Country and most awarded female country performer of all time is the inspiration behind Here You Come Again.
The story follows a die-hard Parton fan who experiences all the ups and downs of life. Guiding him through the difficult times? His own fantasy version of the international icon. Dolly uses her trademark wit, humour and charm to teach him about life, love and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.
As you’d expect, this joyous musical production is packed full with Dolly Parton’s biggest hits, including I Will Always Love You, Jolene, 9 to 5 and its namesake, Here You Come Again.
“I’ve loved Dolly my whole life and have been singing her songs since I was a little girl. It’s been my dream to create a musical comedy that celebrates her music while imagining how she might help someone in a real-life way”
— co-creator Tricia Paoluccio, who plays Dolly Parton in Here You Come Again
Starring alongside Paoluccio is local Aussie actor, Dash Kruck (Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar) and an all-Australian ensemble. A live band will also perform on stage, helping to bring Parton’s music to life.
At the time of writing, only the Melbourne and Sydney dates have been confirmed but rumour has it, the production will also play in Perth, Newcastle, Canberra and Adelaide.
