Vivid Sydney 2025 looks set to be bigger and better than ever. The first announcements have just landed and the arrival of Stranger Things: The Experience is among the events set to impress the crowds.

Netflix’s Stranger Things is set to return for its fifth and final series later this year, and where better to warm up audiences than at Vivid? Sydney’s world-famous annual festival sees swathes of the city transformed into an outdoor ‘gallery’ with extraordinary light installations, cutting-edge music and lots of other activations that attract millions of visitors each year.

What is Stranger Things: The Experience?

The immersive experience invites visitors to step straight into Hawkins. Throwing you headfirst into the smash-hit Netflix series, your opportunity to star as the hero has arrived. Join Eleven, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max and Will for a very special episode, starring you. There’s a brand-new storyline to explore, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re a die-hard fan or you’ve somehow managed to avoid the frenzy over the past nine years (where have you been?!). All the 80s magic remains though, including a themed Mix-Tape medley and special merchandise.

Hawkins Lab

You’re invited to take part in a new sleep study—what could possibly go wrong? This exclusive Stranger Things story has been written by the team behind the show and incorporates a range of strange surprises. From the moment you arrive, live actors, incredible technical and special effects and an awesome 4D finale create an entirely immersive experience that will bring Hawkins to life in front of your eyes.

Explore iconic locations including the Rainbow Room and the Upside Down, and interact with Eleven, Mike, Dr Brenner and many other weird and wonderful characters from the series.

Mix-Tape

Once you’ve escaped Hawkins Lab, relax, unwind and enjoy a neon 80s throwback at Mix-Tape. Refuel with themed food and exclusive drinks at the Stranger Things Bar and rise to the competition at Palace Arcade.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Take a seat in the Byers’ living room beneath the iconic alphabet fairy lights, snap a pic with a Demogorgon and find the nostalgic 80s-style photo booth. The photo ops are endless so you can remember your visit to Hawkins long after your return to reality.
