How Sydney is celebrating the Australian Open

The Southern Hemisphere’s largest annual sporting event may be further down the coast at Melbourne Park, but there are still a few ways Sydneysiders can get involved in the Australian Open.

Below you will find three summery pop-ups that have sprung up in Sydney. Two of them are specially designed for the Australian Open, with TVs streaming the action and a list of tennis-inspired drinks, while the other one runs up for the entire summer season with cheap seasonal cocktails on one

1. The Woollahra Hotel’s Champagne Terrace

To celebrate AO25, the upscale Woollahra Hotel has turned its entire upstairs terrace into the Champagne Terrace, linking up with Piper-Heidsieck to spice things up. You’ll find $99 bottles of Piper-Heidieck on offer and groups of 8 who book in for a banquet will receice a complimentary Magnum to help wash it all down. The terrace itself has been retouched with the French Riviera in mind, working up an al fresco Champagne Club House with multiple screens to punters can catch all the action.

2. Australian Open x Grey Goose: The Perfect Serve

Grey Goose has taken over the leafy Centennial Homestead in Centennial Park, serving up an Australian Open pop-up bar so tennis fans can watch the matches in style. A bespoke food menu and signature Grey Goose cocktails is to be expected, but you’ll also find a pickleball court set up so guests can book in one-hour sessions.

3. Aperol Summer Pop Up at Manta

While not exactly an official Australian Open event like the ones at Woollahra Hotel and Cenntential Hometead, this summery pop-up over at Woolloomooloo Wharf is another perfect play for Sydneysiders celebrating the tennis. Premium seafood and pasta restaurant Manta has linked up with Aperol for a spritzy summer pop up with $16 Aperol cocktails all day, every day. Tip: head along between 4pm and 6pm on any day of the season-long pop-up and you’ll get the same cocktails for $12 each.
