  • A new limited-edition Luke Mangan chocolate bar is giving lucky diners the chance to win everything from fine dining dinners to multi-day cruises.
  • $50,000 worth of prizes is up for grabs, hidden in just ten of these golden chocolate bars.
  • The winning chocolate bars come with an extra layer of indulgence with molten salted caramel.

Luke Mangan is having his Willy Wonka moment. One of Sydney’s most bankable celebrity chefs has just created a fantastical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-inspired dessert, steeped in pure imagination, for a limited-edition experience at several of his restaurants, including Luke’s Kitchen at Kimpton Margot and Luc-San in Potts Point.

The Golden Chocolate Bar, a luxurious dessert that comes with a potential $50,000 in prizes (from dining dining vouchers to cruises), is now being offered at the hotel restaurant from now until late October. And 10 of these things actually come with a golden ticket.

Eating you fill of these chocolate bars in pursuit of some truly epic prizes seems like an admirable pursuit. The bar is whimsical enough to feel like its own prize. Shaped like a golden brick, the chocolate bar snaps open with a rich chocolate mousse. Winning bars add some molten salted caramel to the centre for an extra layer of indulgence, signalling prizes like three-course dinners, an exclusive superyacht experience with Luke, and a four-day cruise with Carnival Cruise Line Australia.

“It’s about creating moments that spark connection and conversation.” said Luke.

“I have always loved the magic of food and how it can take you back to your childhood. For me, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and a packet of Tim Tams were those little moments of wonder growing up.”

The dessert is available for a limited time only on the a la carete menus at several Luke Mangan and Co restaurants including:

  • Luke’s Kitchen at Kimpton Margot
  • Luke’s Bistro & Bar at Sydney Domestic T3
  • Luc-San in Potts Point

Again, only 10 of these bars will, when cracked open, flow with molten salted caramel. They’ve been randomly dispersed amongst these restaurants so trying to track one down might take a few shots between now and late October.

“In the end, I wanted it to be more than just a pretty picture for socials. We wanted to deliver on flavour and give people that feeling of being an excited kid again. It isn’t often we have that anymore,” said the prolific chef.

Mangan’s chocolate bar plays into the Dubai Chocolate trend that has been all over social media this year. With everyone now once again obsessed with using rich, indulgent chocolate in desserts, Luke has taken charge and turned this trend into a delicious treasure hunt.

How to win Luke Mangan’s chocolate bar game

It’s straightforward. Go to one of the aforementioned mentioned restaurants and order one of Luke’s Golden Chocolate Bars.

If your golden bar oozes with chocolate mousse, you’ve got yourself a rich, decadent dessert.

But if your golden bar cracks open and bleeds golden salted caramel, you’ve won a major prize. Just take a photo of the winning bar, with a clear view of the oozing golden, and your receipt and the scratch card that reveals your prize. E-mail the winning details to the address that’s printed on your dedicated scratch card.
