Laneway Festival Sydney: How to still get tickets to see Charli XCX

Laneway Festival Sydney tickets sold out in a matter of hours when the massive lineup was announced in October 2024, but many punters don’t seem to realise that there’s still a way to score tickets to see the likes of Charli XCX, Clairo and Bicep.

Are music festivals dying? While it looks like the end of days (at least in its current three-day format) for Splendour in the Grass, one of Australia’s biggest music festivals, one-day festivals like Listen Out and Laneway Festival are still muscling through the current issues that plague the financial viability of live music around the world.

Concert overheads are soaring as the world’s biggest artist’s continue to get more ambitious with their productions. More people, especially demographics targeted by such events, are delaying their spend. Promoters are having a tough time coming up with exciting lineups that don’t feel recycled from previous years.

There are many reasons why festivals, especially big multi-day, multi-genre ones, are seemingly sinking into the soil. Many thought this live music curse might shake the long-running Laneway Festival as well, but the clever promoters came up with a way to guarantee an instant sell out.

Why did Laneway sell out so fast?

The formula was easy. Grab the most zeitgeisty artist of the previous year, and make it exclusive.

The practice of moving away from adding any major sideshows just meant Laneway Festival needed to choose the right headliner. And they did.

There’s no questioning Charli XCX was the “it” artist of 2025. Her album Brat introduced a bit of life into same-same pop music, featuring more sophisticated, rave-inflected production to move a bit closer to peers like Billie Eilish.

Brat was an instant hit, followed up by an equally raved-about remix album and the typical social media penetration that even had big-name brands jumping onboard Charli XCX’s conception of a “Brat Summer”—a romanticised throwback to the days of being obnoxiously carefree.

And so when punters found out that going to Laneway Festival was the only chance to see Charli XCX live, demand naturally flowed. Laneway Festival was an instant sell-out, even besting previous years and building it up to the biggest music festival in Sydney.

Can I still get tickets to Laneway Festival?

With the festival sold out, and demand still monumental, are there still Laneway Festival Sydney tickets available?

Yes. But you’ll have to ask fast. And be willing to fork out more than the original ticket price of $189.

Ticketek Marketplace is confirmed as the only authorised reseller for Laneway tickets in Sydney and in the other Australian cities this touring festival touches.

As of publishing there are only eleven tickets left on the system, so some speed is necessary.

Laneway resell tickets are currently going for as “little’ as $252 and as much as $512.

Considering the original price was just under $200, that $252 doesn’t seem too unreasonable for anyone who are tripping over themselves to catch Charli XCX headline Laneway Festival.

When is Laneway Festival in Sydney?

Laneway Festival is a one-day-only festival that is happening on Saturday, February 9 in Centennial Park. This is the first time the festival has moved to Sydney’s leafiest space, digging into the same festival grounds as Listen Out. The festival was moved to Sydney Olympic Park for the past two years, taking on a similar format to the sorely missed Big Day Out by using the warehouses and stadiums of Sydney Showground.
