Find love and laughs with this hilarious live comedy dating show

Ever felt like your love life is a joke without a punchline? At this live Sydney singles comedy show, unlucky-in-love punters hit the stage for blind dates adjudicated by comedian matchmakers.

Since we’ve all but completely handed the practice of meeting a love interest over to the apps, outsourcing is really nothing new. But having a professional comedian mercilessly mock you while you’re set up with a stranger? Inspired.

Comedy Dating, presented by Sunday Singles, is a live standup show for singles where volunteers hit the stage for blind dates while professional comedians poke fun, offer running commentary, and make sure the night stays funny funny, not awkward funny.

People have even found lasting love after the shows, with reports of engagements, serious relationships, flings, and friendships formed afterwards.

If you’re new to Sydney and looking to make friends, the organisers say plenty of people come to the events solo. “You would be surprised how many people go with mates the first time and then the second time they want to go it alone.”

“It gets people out of their comfort zone and it makes you speak to other people. So yes you can go on your own.”

The sessions are open to all ages, with contestants from 23 to 49 hitting the stage, and a ratio of about 60 percent female and 40 percent male. “So if you’re a gentleman reading this worrying that it’s going to be heavily male based, think again. Ladies often bring their wingwomen for support.”

Even those just there for the laughs can still be part of things by dropping your funniest dating fails, non-negotiable icks, or cheeky pickup lines into ballot boxes with the best submissions read out live on stage.

Most shows sell out of their 150-300 ticket spots in advance so get in now for October 5th.
