- Residents of Davidson are ready to bring back their epic Christmas lights displays after a four-year hiatus.
- 10 Cambage Court will be getting involved once again with over 100,000 Christmas lights and window displays.
- Tens of thousands of people are expected to file through the streets each night in the lead-up to Christmas.
The residents of Borgnis Street, Davidson in Sydney’s Northern Beaches become beacons of festive cheer every time Christmas rolls around, guiding Santa to our shores with over 100,000 Christmas lights and Christmas decorations.
At least that’s how it was before the pandemic, with a four-year hiatus stripping away the festive cheer that is now only starting to inch back into the small enclave.
For years, the strip, near Garigal National Park, has been the single best place to see Christmas lights in Sydney, with one particular home nearby—10 Cambage Court—shouldering much of the festive spirit. In fact, the home is typically so overblown and extravagant with its Christmas displays that it draws people from all over the city, sometimes causing the odd traffic jam.
Tens of thousands of sightseers will once again return to the street to see the dazzling Christmas lights, with 10 Cambage Court often raising a substantial amount of funds for numerous local charities. In 2024, the display will support Red Nose, The Humpty Dumpty Foundation and Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
It’ll also be occasion for a bunch of Christmas-themed block parties with community BBQs and professional carollers popping up on select evenings. Even Santa himself will be skirting around in his sleigh, watching his legacy unfold with exultant glee.
The Cambage Court Christmas Lights evenings will take place on the following nights this year:
- November 29 – December 12; 8pm – 10:30pm
- December 13 – 27; 7:30pm – 11pm
- December 28 – 31; 8pm – 10pm
It’s free to go see the lights, but given the unrestrained popularity, and the fact that the Davidson Christmas lights have been sorely missed for the past few years, you’ll need to reserve a spot. You can do so via Eventbrite.
